When I began my career as a wedding photographer, it was 3 weeks after my college graduation in 2013, and my freshly won English degree was still warm in my hand.
When you study literature, you come to realize that the hours spent reading and dissecting books all boil down to one fundamental task: learn the art of effective storytelling. There is one foundational principle of creative writing that has not left me in the years since I first heard my professor repeating it emphatically over his battered copy of Catcher in the Rye. As he did so, I could feel it seeping into my bones:
"Show, don't tell."
This job is sacred to me because it requires that I do just that. My passion lies in not only telling your story, but in finding the essence of those singular experiences and emotions that you just can't put words to,
Since 2013, I have photographed over 150 weddings across the U.S. and internationally. I am humbled beyond measure to have the trust of each couple I work with to see them for who they are and how they experience the world.
The time you spend being photographed on your wedding day should enhance the rest of your experience, not detract from it. My hope is to create an environment in which you feel you can be fully present with yourselves--whatever that might mean for you--and I approach each couple with the particular balance of reverence, levity, and guidance that works for them.
