The Grimmetts: Married

Kate + Chris Grimmett

I can honestly say that no wedding has been more emotional for me than this one. It probably has to do with the fact that Chris and Kate are two of the kindest, most selfless souls (and I don't say that lightly). Not only is their love for one another strong, but their love for others--their family, friends, and even strangers--is so evident in their actions.

If I could think of one word to sum up their day, it would be HUGS. I know that may sound silly and frivolous, but these hugs were special. They were a manifestation of Chris and Kate's gratitude for their community. As we were doing portraits, Kate hugged each of her bridesmaids (without prompting from me), and whispered to each of them that she loved them, and how thankful she was that they were with her. As the bridal party walked down the aisle, Chris was waiting for them, and he, through his tears, hugged each and every one of them. The processional may have been my favorite part of the day. This song was playing, and the sense of community, gratitude and love was honestly tangible. Many tears were shed--I might cry just thinking about it!

Chris honored his new wife in so many ways on this day. First, a surprise song (full band and everything) immediately after the ceremony. I don't remember what song it was or how it sounded, but I remember Chris singing to Kate "You're my best friend," and thinking about how evident that actually was. He also had a surprise choreographed dance for her at the reception (to Treasure by Bruno MARS) with the bridal party. To this day, I can't hear that song without thinking of Chris and Kate! It was through small actions like these that I saw how great of a marriage these two were going to have.

I'm honestly at a loss for words trying to describe how special this day was, but I guess that's what photos are for, huh? :) I encourage you to pull that song (Fall Afresh by Jeremy Riddle) up while you look through these.

Chris and Kate, I sincerely, truly, honestly, cannot thank you enough for allowing me to witness such an amazing day. You are two special people, and I know you will bless SO MANY people in your life together.
